The novelty of Starbucks coffee is not just the only reason why a lot of people love this household name. If you are a lover of gourmet coffee, then you surely must have heard of Starbucks Coffee. Truly, this is one of the largest names ever in the industry of coffee. In fact, one can even say that Starbucks is a household name anyone around the world would certainly recognize!
Being the huge name that it is right now, the Starbucks Coffee Company actually started way back in 1971 in Seattle, Washington. Three businessmen, namely Zev Siegl, Jerry Baldwin, and Gordon Bowker founded the company, and started out by opening quite a quaint version of today’s Starbucks. In 1980, Siegl sold out his share of the company. Not long after that, Starbucks garnered the attention of a man named Howard Schultz. Schultz then joined the company as the head of the marketing department, and was then sent to Milan, Italy for a series of houseware shows. It was there that Schultz developed a fascination for the coffee industry in Italy, and proceeded to propose to Baldwin that they create an American version of Italy’s coffee culture through Starbucks. But Baldwin was not really impressed with Schultz’s idea, unfortunately. By 1987, Starbucks was already up for sale in the market, and it was Schultz who bought it and changed the store’s whole concept to fit his vision of bringing Italy’s coffee culture to America. And this was just the beginning of what is now one of the largest ever coffee chains in the history of coffee! It did not take long for Schultz to reach his primary goal of operating 125 outlets in five short years. In fact, Schultz was able to open more than his original goal of opening 125 outlets in that period of five years! Today, the company that started out as just a roaster of coffee beans in Seattle, Washington is now a multibillion dollar company producing coffee that people worldwide love to bits.
But what is it about Starbucks that has really captured the attention of a lot of people? And why is it that Starbucks has somehow evolved into the concept of social stratification? Let us face it: though Starbucks caters to people of different levels of socioeconomic status, somehow, the bulk of its patrons are actually of the well-off status. Plus, the fact that Starbucks is quite a huge brand name today also contributes to their marketing ploy of pricing their coffee products quite high. But the novelty of Starbucks coffee actually makes the high price more than worth your while. A lot of people would definitely agree with me on this.
If you have been to one of the many Starbucks outlets all over the world, you surely must have noticed how packs and packs of customers line up at their counters! Professionals, students, and just about any person would not hesitate to line up at the counters already packed with so many customers already. Plus, the mere fact that you are in Starbucks can already do wonders for your image!
Another awesome fact about Starbucks is the superb customer service of their staff and crew! Starbucks is one of the first-ever coffee shops that employ first-name basis for customers. It always helps to know that the staff remembers your name since it gives that sense of importance. And this is, no doubt, one of the many reasons people flock towards Starbucks. This superb service actually comes from Schultz’s personal motto of offering Legendary Service, which is the underlying concept all Starbucks outlets employ today!
I love their coffee products, their exemplary service, and the way they make each and every customer feel pampered. From taking your order right down to the minute you leave the café, you are sure to have a stellar experience with this worldwide coffee brand. This is just one of the many things that will have Starbucks at the top of their game in the coffee industry.
