Cutting Energy Consumption: A Viable Solution Indeed

When it comes to global warming, I believe many people would agree with me that this is an issue that has definitely stirred up a lot of opinions and views from people all over the world. There are so many sides and perspectives to consider when discussing global warming. A popular belief is that global warming is not really an issue that people should worry themselves over. Some even go to the extent of saying that global warming does not really exist! From the many sides and views that I have come across, all I can say for sure is that there our planet is indeed experiencing a slight rate of warming. To what extent, that I do not know. Whether this is just a natural process or is man-made, that I do not know. Whether this warrants attention or not, that I still do not know.

But what is really sad about this issue is that it has somehow become a platform for politicians to rake in points for themselves, especially during the inevitable period of elections. Worse, the political and economical views of such politicians have drowned out any possibility of agreement. Too many words have been hurled against each side that any semblance of agreement has become very hard to decipher.

Personally, I am all for cutting energy consumption. It’s not that I do not care whether or not the problem of global warming does exist. This is for the simple reason that if this problem does exist, I will be one of the billions of people worldwide who would be directly affected by this, should it take its toll. So, why don’t we just go about cutting energy consumption and start solving the problem, whether it is real or not? Let us face it: cutt

ing energy consumption can indeed bring about many benefits that all of us all over the world would come to enjoy in the long run. This is not something that people would not benefit from at all. In fact, a cleaner and greener planet is a surefire way towards longer life for our planet itself, and for all of mankind.

But then again, there are just so many things to consider when it comes to cutting energy consumption. For instance, businesses that would engage in methods on cutting energy consumption would inevitably suffer certain cutbacks. This is quite true, even in the mere act of switching energy sources, say switching to solar energy or wind energy, for example. But if the governments and such would implement this move as a requirement of sorts for all businesses to comply, then businesses would certainly comply. There is no question to this at all. The question lies on whether or not such a move is indeed needed. Thus, we are all back to square one. This atmosphere of uncertainty still looms over us. Does the problem of global warming really exist? Or is it just another trend that has been frequenting the platforms of politicians and economists all over the world?

But then again, it would be too irresponsible for any human being to ignore the possibility that the problem does exist. This is precisely why I believe a certain compromise has to be made. Since there are benefits entailed in becoming cleaner and greener, then why not push on with that move? This way, we are properly and aptly geared towards a cleaner and greener planet. And we can then start solving the issue of global warming at hand. One way to do this is to cut energy consumption. So, if all of us can work hand in hand, then we really do not have to play the waiting game, just to find out if global warming is indeed a pressing problem as it has been reputed to be. This way, the first steps towards solving the problem, should it be determined that it does exist, can then be made.
